Llamas

Llamas are truly magical creatures. While not a common animal kept in Northeastern Wisconsin, the llama community in the United States is strong and full of wonderful and ethical breeders. We are lucky to call some of these breeders both our mentors and friends. From herds and bloodlines all over the United States, we have put together a small herd of llamas that we feel represent our best for breeding.
The goal of breeding llamas at BFF is not to grow our farm significantly, or inundate the llama community, but rather to breed for the best in personality first, as well as conformation and fiber. Llamas at BFF have become the go to animal for people who are looking for peace and calm, and maybe even healing. We have several rescue llamas in our herd, and are honored to be able to provide them a safe and loving home to live out their lives.
These are the animals that we have brought to our farm:

LUA Sebastian’s Pearl of Wisdom – AKA S’mores. S’mores is a farm favorite born at BFF in Sept 2020. She is very curious and likes to meet new people. She is likely to meet you at the fence and give kisses. S’mores is most often seen at any off-farm events and is memorable because she is a BIG and very sweet girl!

RESCUE Banana- Banana was purchased on Craigslist in 2019. She is a black llama and had a black halter on when we picked her up so no issues were immediately noticed. When she got home to BFF we went to take her halter off and found out that it had grown into her nose bone. We can only assume that since she is difficult to handle the previous owner kept her halter on all the time for convenience. Removing the halter meant taking some of her nose cartilage with it and she now has an indent in her nose permanently. Banana has been voted “Most Likely to Spit” at BFF, although the only time she spits at us is when it’s time for worming shots. Banana hates being touched, haltered, or handled in any way although through much time and patience she has learned to trust us. Banana is retired at BFF and will live out her life here.

Cloudbirth of Dakota Ridge – AKA Cloud is the gal in charge in the female herd. She is the mother to S’mores and Winston, and is a very sweet and loving llama. When she isn’t bred that is šŸ™‚ When bred she will not come anywhere near people and prefers to be left alone. She is an excellent mom and very attentive and loving.

RCF Sweet Kisses is a goofball girl and is generally the one to start trouble in the herd.
If there are spit fights to be had Kisses is in the middle. She loves her food, and loves to play with the other girls. Kisses is the only girl that can get cranky Banana to play with her! She has suri fiber- long and spiral shaped tendrils.

Starr Command ARR (Cami) is a beautiful true black llama. She has a spicy attitude and excellent fiber. While curious about people she dislikes to be touched so she is not one of the girls who will come up to be pet in the pasture.

Tales of Legacy Key ARR (Keeley) Keeley is a smaller statured girl but very self confident. She has been a good stable presence in the female herd for both the rescues and any cria.

Stonecrest’s Murphy, Murph, placed 3rd in Heavy Wool Yearling Male at Llamapalooza Llama show in Austin Minnesota in 2021! He also placed 3rd in his class at March Llama Madness in Cloverdale Indiana in March 2022. Murph is shy of visitors but a sweet boy. He loves his treats and can usually be won over with them. His first cria was born at BFF in 2023 Black Frog Farm Murphy’s Winston.

LUA Sebastian’s Petunia came to BFF in 2023 as a 6 month old. She is 1/2 sister to S’mores and will be just as big! Petunia is very sweet and likes to give kisses. We are excited to continue to show her in 2024 as she just keeps getting prettier as she gets older!

Black Frog Farm Murphy’s Winston was born at BFF in August of 2023. We are excited to start his showing career in 2024 and see how he does! He is a gorgeous tan color with silver laced throughout.

RESCUE Ripple came to us through The Southeast Llama rescue in 2023. He was living a short distance from our farm and the rescue was looking for a foster. We volunteered to foster him and ended up adopting him! He is an older gelded llama, with quite the character. His elderly owner could no longer handle him and he came to us full of burrs and matted fiber. He has a very friendly personality and will give kisses to visitors. Ripple is considered a paint in color and he will live out his years at BFF.

RESCUE Argentine Merlot or just “Merle” came to us along with Ripple through the Southeast Llama Rescue. He is an older gentleman who likes to be left alone. His elderly owner could no longer handle him and he went into rescue. He came to us with matted fiber and in need of shearing. We adopted Merle with Ripple and they are living out their lives together on our farm.

RESCUE Savannah is an elderly girl who came to us through local rescue. We were told she is in her mid teens and she hadn’t lived with other llamas for many years. She stayed with her goat friends at her previous home. Savannah came to us in February 2023 and is learning how to be a member of the female llama herd. She came to us with matted and overgrown fiber, but in overall good condition. She allows us to get close to her but doesn’t care to be touched, or especially haltered. Savannah will live out her life as a retiree at BFF.
